Abstract

Chess is considered one of the intellectual and mental games because it has a role in stimulating mental processes and memory, as well as being a sport that does not require physical effort. And the princes and leaders increased widely in the Abbasid era in light of the care of the Abbasid caliphs for it, and it reached the height of its spread, especially in the era of Harun al-Rashid, and he encouraged the caliphs to play with it, which prompted people to learn it in order to gain favor and high status with the Abbasid caliphs who brought the men who were skilled in it and made them close to theirs .
